Afro Atlantic Histories – NGA Washington

Durante séculos, os artistas contaram e recontaram as complexas histórias da diáspora africana. Explore este legado duradouro na exposição Histórias Afro-Atlânticas, que analisa a fundo as experiências históricas e as formações culturais dos negros e africanos desde o século 17. Mais de 130 poderosas obras de arte, incluindo pinturas, esculturas, fotografias e mídia baseada no tempo, de artistas da África, Europa, Américas e Caribe, dão vida a estas narrativas. O artista Flavio Cerqueira apresenta na mostra a escultura Amnésia  que faz parte do acerto do Museu de Arte de São Paulo.

Esta exposição foi inicialmente apresentada como Histórias Afro-Atlânticas em 2018 pelo Museu de Arte de São Paulo no Brasil.

For centuries, artists have told and retold the complex histories of the African Diaspora. Explore this enduring legacy in the exhibition Afro-Atlantic Histories, which takes an in-depth look at the historical experiences and cultural formations of Black and African people since the 17th century. More than 130 powerful works of art, including paintings, sculpture, photographs, and time-based media by artists from Africa, Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean, bring these narratives to life. The artist Flavio Cerqueira presents in the show the sculpture Amnésia that is part of the São Paulo Art Museum’s collection.

This exhibition was initially presented as Histórias Afro-Atlânticas in 2018 by the Museu de Arte de São Paulo in Brazil.
